Obituary of George J. Johnson
George "Bud" J. Johnson Jr., age 86 of Garnet Valley, PA passed away on February 2, 2019 at Hospice House at Ridley Park. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Upper Darby, he resided for the past 12 years in Garnet Valley, previously residing in Glen Mills and Folcroft. For over 50 years, Bud was co-owner and operator of Johnson's Automotive Service, a family business in Philadelphia, before retiring in 2005. He graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1951 and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Bud was a member of the Church of the Holy Child and the Train Collectors Association. He loved his trains, gardening, and movies. In his earlier years, he enjoyed bowling, boating, and fishing. Bud is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Helene Sheeran Johnson, daughter Dorothy (Steve) Eglin, stepsons Tom and Wayne Sheeran, siblings Robert and Donald Johnson and Helen Moore, grandchildren David and Monica, step-grandchildren Tom and Emily, and many nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, George and Grace Christaldi Johnson, first wife Flossie, son David, granddaughter Rachael, and his beloved dog Roxi. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 10-11AM at Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington, DE 19810, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11AM. Interment is private.
