In early September 1973, just a few months after I graduated from college,I interviewed with Mr. Ederheimer for a teaching position at Chelsea Vocational HS in his social studies department. Much to my surprise he hired me and a week later I was teaching 5 social studies classes a day. At that time CVHS was an all boys school. I had just turned 22, many of my students were just a few years younger than me. If you remember the tv show Welcome Back Kotter you’ll get a sense of life at CVHS in the 1970’s. Stanley would unexpectedly come into my class and “monitor” the lesson I was teaching. A throughly nerve racking experience for a 1st year teacher . After the class he would surgically go over the 40 minutes of the lesson. He was professional but very supportive and encouraging.under his direction I became a teacher ! I remained at CVHS for only 1 1/2 years and in the professional for only 5 due to constant NYC budget cuts. But the lessons and professionalism I learned under Stanley stayed for me throughout my life. I’ve had a successful career in TV advertising sales. Although I lost touch with Stanley I never forgot him and the life lessons he taught. Finally, we also had a hell of a lot of fun !! RIP. Michael Labriola
