I had the opportunity to work with Devon as her "coach" in the West Chester University adapted program. Devon impressed me with her memory, kindness, faith and obviously, her sense of humor.
I am grateful for Devon. I will always hold a special place in my heart for her. She truly did change my life (on multiple occasions actually).
I am truly sorry for your loss Lengel family.
Rest In Peace Devon

Kim and Dave, I am so sorry to hear of Devon’s sudden passing. I can’t believe it was so many years ago that we all heard about your tiny miracle baby. Though I didn’t know Devon personally, I know she gave you and so many others so much joy. I was particularly intrigued years ago when Kim shared her interest in comedy. I can’t imagine how difficult this is for her loved ones and I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

It’s such a tragedy when our young ones are taken away from us. Certainly Jehovah God intended for us to live forever and his purpose will be realized as indicated at Psalms 37:29. There is also the promise of a resurrection at Acts 24:15, giving us the hope of seeing our loved ones again. May you find comfort in the Scriptures and in family & friends. Dear Kim, Dave and Nathan,
I am thinking of you in this difficult time. I was blessed to work with Devon a number of times at Quest over the years. Her spirit was engaging and delightful. She was always eager for a challenge and loved to sing! She will be fondly remembered for her wit, desire to learn and persevere to gain new skills. I know without a doubt that her level of confidence and perseverance to learn and give to others was instilled and supported by you, and your faith. May your faith sustain you and uphold her memory. Take one day at a time. Her life has changed us all.

I have known Devon for 5 years. We met during the 2013 NFB of PA BELL summer camp where she was my student, and every year after that. Shortly after the first BELL camp, I began working with Devon one on one with reading. Over the years we have not only worked on reading, but have delved into travel skills, spatial awareness skills, map skills, tactile drawing interpretation, and more recently, geometry. No matter how difficult the lesson content or question, Devon always persisted. Even when she was frustrated, she gave her best effort. The more I worked with her, the more I could teach how she learned. Devon was such a nice, kind, and happy kid. She was always respectful and polite, genuine and sincere. She loved to sing and watch musicals, she was curious about novel words and phrases, and she always had a joke to share. I always enjoyed my time with Devon and feel so blessed that I was a part of her life, I will truly miss her.

My deepest heartfelt sympathies in the loss of your dear daughter, Devon. Although I did not know Devon, as the grandmother of 3 wonderful granddaughters, I was moved to offer my condolences. I could not imagine the pain that must be felt upon the tragic loss of a child. It is my hopes and prayers that you will find comfort in the God of the Bible that tells us of the promise of a resurrection. The Holy Scriptures tell us that "The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it."- Psalm 37:29. Yes, we are promised that your dear Brielle shall arise to life again here on a restored paradise earth. -Acts 24:15. May we all live our lives in such a way that we will be there to greet her! The Bible tells us how at John 17:3. I have found the scripture in John 5:28 & 29 to be of encouragement to me. It is my hopes that these words will prove to encourage and comfort you at this time.
Respectfully submitted,
Denise Brown

I have been so very blessed to know Devon, and experience several events at St. Lucy's with her, my niece Gianna, and many of their other friends at the school. She was just a ray of sunshine! I enjoyed singing excerpts from South Pacific with her and mimicking some of the famous lines from the performance. I’m so sorry to hear about Devon. My heart sunk when I received notice of her death. I drove Devon many years ago in the summer when she went to Overbrook School. She was such a sweetie pie.
I was fortunate enough to be able to know Kim some and find what extraordinary people you both are as parents.
If you recall, Kim, Devon came to my barn one day to meet my horse and she loved the hay loft
Such a sweet wonderful girl that graced this earth and all who knew her.
My heartfelt sorrow for you and your family.
She was always a bright spot in my Garnet Valley driving because periodically through the summers I would see Devon here and there. I got to watch her grow.
Oh gosh my prayers and thoughts for all of you Kathy

Words cannot express our sadness at Devon's passing. All of us at Blue Cross Blue Shield Association came to love her as one of our own. She lit up the room when she walked in and was a tremendous hit when she walked on stage to accept her Faces of Fearless Award. I enjoyed meeting her so much and wear my necklace often. I will surely wear it on Monday.
I will always remember her and her bright personality. Thank you for sharing her with us.
