Obituary of Matthew P. Keenan

Matthew P. Keenan, age 45 of West Chester, PA passed away suddenly on October 18, 2017 at his home. Born in Syracuse, NY, Matt was a resident of West Chester, PA for many years and previously Aston, PA. A 1990 graduate from Salesianum School, Matthew received both his Bachelor of Arts in History and Masters in Education degrees from the University of Pennsylvania.. He is a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Glen Mills. Matt was an avid swimmer and a member of the swim team during his high school years. As a YMCA swimmer, he was captain of his team, an All-American, and represented the Upper Main Line YMCA at Nationals. He was an EMT and a lifeguard for both the Knowlton Swim Club in Middletown, PA, and the Stone Harbor Beach Patrol. Matthew had many hobbies, including spending time in the mountains and skiing, and he was known as a Phillies fan. A recruiter most recently in the Healthcare industry, Matt was previously a teacher. Matthew is survived by his loving parents, John & Martha Wenke Keenan, 3 brothers, Mark (Lynn) Keenan, Sean (Tracy) Keenan and Patrick Keenan, Paternal grandfather, Donald Keenan, aunts & uncles, Candi & Pete Wienckowski, Mike & Jeanne Keenan, Bryan & Kay Keenan, a niece, Kristi Keenan, 2 nephews, Christopher & Conor Keenan and numerous cousins. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Episcopal Church, 576 Concord Rd, Glen Mills, PA 19342. Interment will be held privately at a later date in the church cemetery.
