Obituary of Dylan John Barmmer

Dylan John Barmmer, age 50, of Costa Mesa, CA, passed away unexpectedly on December 26, 2024. He was born and raised in Huntington Beach, CA. Dylan had resided in Costa Mesa for the past 17 years, previously living in Miami, FL and New City, NY. A graduate of Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, Class of 1993, Dylan went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Notre Dame, graduating with the Class of 1997 as a Notre Dame Scholar. He pursued a career in writing, working for the Associated Press, covering the Indiana Pacers and other professional sports teams. Dylan also did medical writing for Wolters Kluwer, worked for marketing and brand agencies Southern Brand Collective, Wirestone, Boost Media, and Fang Digital Marketing. He was also employed by Pacific Premier Bank. Dylan operated his own writing company, Word is Born. Dylan's passion for writing pervaded his entire life and he was known for his spontaneous creativity. He would often compose on-the-spot haiku poems for strangers in what he'd call "Random Acts of Poetry." When not devoting his life to his love of words, he also enjoyed sports and spending time at the beach. Dylan was preceded in death by his father, John-Campbell Barmmer, who passed away in 2022. He is survived by his mother, Mary Friel Barmmer; his brother, Brendan Friel Barmmer (Olga); two nieces, Isabel and Amelia; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
