I had the great fortune of meeting Bill Bergey about 30 years ago. Each and every time I saw him over that time I was amazed at his incredible energy, his zest for life, his deep love for his family and his charitable spirit. Bill was a founding Celebrity Captain for the Mid Penn Bank Celebrity Golf Tournament which has raised over $1 million for breast cancer charities. We could never have done any of that without him so that too is part of his incredible legacy. I will miss my friend forever. All my love and prayers to Micky, Jason, Jake, Josh and all of Bill’s loved ones. RIP King.

During the Christmas, the sad news about Bill's passing reached us here in Finland.
I remember, when I was staying with the Bergey family during my Upland year, in the beginning I was very quiet and shy. Bill told me several times, that I must talk more with other people, that way my english would get better. So I tried and eventually there was times, that it would been better to be quiet.
Bill was always fair and he and Micky treated me as one of they own. I was very fortunate to have Bill, Micky, Jason,Jake and Josh as my family during my stay in USA.
My deepest condolences to the whole family, you're in my thoughts.
Love

Heaven just got another angel. When our family moved to Chadds Ford, PA, Bill & Micky Bergey lived in the same neighborhood. My parents, Jim & Dottie McLaughlin, became good friends with the Bergeys. Bill & Micky Bergey are the nicest people you’d ever want to meet.
I was saddened to hear of Bills passing, but I I was honored to know Bill who was such a funny, real, compassionate person. Bill & Micky came to my sister Pattis funeral and my sister Jaynee showed Bill her Eagles tattoo. Jaynee asked Bill if he had a tattoo. Bill just smiled and said “I don’t need one, I lived it”.
Our loss is heaven’s gain. God bless his beautiful family. Especially his sweet, funny, beautiful wife Micky. We will miss you Bill. Love, Diane McLaughlin Judd

Uncle Bill leaves many legacies for his greatness and kindness. My most fond and cherished memory of him is how BIG he loved. He would squeeze me so tight and shower me with love every time I walked in the room. Oh how I wish I could feel that embrace and booming voice again.

Bill was a student of my father's, Larry Duckwall, at Pine Valley High School in South Dayton, NY. Bill and his siblings would visit as they moved on with new experiences. In my dad's later years, Bill, Micky and their sons embraced my mom and dad as family. My Dad has been gone for a decade but Bill and Micky continued to join us in an occasional get together to stay connected. Thank you for being such a special part of my family's memories.

To Bill's lovely family my very deepest and most sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy in the loss of a great family man and father. He was one of Philadelphia Eagles' greatest linebacker and player to ever play for the Eagles and in the NFL. He was a great guy and I'm so very proud to have known him as a friend and my heart is broken for his loss. Bill will most definitely be sorely missed at Stanley's Tavern especially on Monday Nights. He certainly made Monday Night Football entertaining and fun to watch. I will always have very fond memories of him and will always miss the Bahama weekend trips to Breezes Super Club resort after the NFL season. It was a real distinct pleasure to have got to have known Bill and his wonderful family over the years.
May GOD Bless All of You in this sorrowful holiday season. May his loving memory shine throughout the years to come. I do hope that my words will be of great comfort to all of you in the days ahead.
Once again, please accept my very deepest sympathy and condolences for your loss.
Your friend,

My sincere condolences to the Bergey family. My introduction to Bill came in 1976,my rookie camp with the Eagles. Bill was defense I was offense. Bill’s advice to me was direct and simple,”stop holding kid”. Bill was two inches taller, stronger and was nine years older and an all pro by this time. I needed an edge. Bill was a good man. Thank you Bill for many good conversations at the camp dinner table. Tom Fritsch’76 eagles.

I am Clif Hinds, a member of the Brookland, Arkansas High School class of 1965. I never met Bill, although I always wanted to. He was a legend at Arkansas State where I got my Bachelors Degree.
Although I didn't know Bill, I did know Micky. She was a couple of years behind me at Brookland. I remember her as a fine lady and a friend.
I want to wish condolences to the Bergey family and especially to Micky. Losing a life mate leaves hole in the heart that never quite heals. I suspect that my feelings are not that important, but I want you to know that I do care. I have said a prayer for your family.

Back 'in the day' when Bill was on the football team at ASU, I was a majorette, and we always loved to share stories like the time I accidentally kicked the football into the stands while preforming a 'dance routine' at half time--He told me later that the next time the majorettes performed with a football, he needed to give me some instruction.
And I have always remembered the conversation we had when he first 'made the team' traveling to an out-of-state game- He was SO excited, and through the years I have often remembered that conversation when I watched, with pride, his success on the professional field. I frequently revisited those conversations with my Ole Miss Football Husband of 57 years!
I send my heartfelt thanks to his entire family for sharing such a kind, gentle, and loving man with so many. My time at ASU was enhanced just having him as a friend, and my love of football continues to this day.

I was lucky enough to grow up getting to know Bill, he was always so very nice to me. My father, Bill Moore, was better known back then as Bills wise cracking sidekick Humble Howard as they hosted Monday Night Football at Stanley’s Tavern in North Wilmington. Talk about being lucky, best way to impress a first date is to have an NFL legend sit with her and tell her what a nice guy you are! He had an amazing sense of humor and was as kind and gentle as he could be. I watched before games as parents of kids with special needs brought their kids in for dinners before the “regular crazy crowds” showed up and Bill spent time with these families focusing on their child as if they were the only person in the world. After I chose my career in law enforcement, he took me aside and said that cops are important but to always remember to stand up for the folks who nobody else stands up for. They were words that I remember still today, not only because of how they shaped the way I served the public, but because they came from a man I grew up admiring not only as an incredible football great, but as an incredible human being. To his family, the entire Moore family sends our prayers and condolences on your loss. Thank you for having shared him with so many of us over the years. May God bless you in your mourning and bring you joy in your memories. Yours in Prayer, Brian N. Moore.

Bill & I were freshman on the Arkansas State football team in 1964. An unlikely pair, Bill being from New York and me from Mississippi. Over the Thanksgiving holidays, we hitch hiked to Greenville, MS. (Sure wouldn't do that today). My family took Bill on a tour of the Delta. The farms, cotton fields, levee, the Mississippi River. Bill was conversational, polite, and had good manners. He fit in nicely. My parents liked him. When the 2nd semester was over, I transferred to Delta State in Cleveland, MS. Bill stayed at Arkansas State, and we all know what he accomplished. I have kept up with Bill over the last 60 plus years, and have always been pleased that we were friends. He was a good person. I will miss him. My condolences to Mickey and the family.

I am sorry for the loss of Billy. I was a little girl when he would hang out with my older brother.
On one of his trips back home to South Dayton, Billy took the time to stop and see me where I work as a Lab/ QC at the local cheese plant. It was a surprise and grateful he stopped to see me.
Prayers for all the family.

I’m sorry to hear of Bills passing. I knew him for a short while when we were in ROTC summer Camp at FT Sill Oklahoma. He would stop by our tent to talk with a friend from his college. Years later one of my wife’s collage roommates mentioned him as at the time she lived in the same neighborhood. I had always meant to look him up but never got around to it. He was a nice guy and I know we will be missed

I only met the Bergeys for one high school lacrosse season in 2022 at Downingtown West. A lifelong Eagles fan, I was in awe of this Eagle great. Our grandsons played on that team.( Bret Bergey and Michael Straub)
As the season passed we often sat together and talked Eagles and DW lacrosse.
I will never forget him telling me several times how much he loved the way Bret and Michael played together.
I would text my buddies that I “ talk sports” weekly with the great Bill Bergey!
A life lived well!!

My dad visited with Bill several years ago at his car lot ; and, Bill called and talked to me for a while and sent a signed picture to me. Later on Pine valley school had a combined class reunion where I got to see Bill , Bruce and Sylvia. Sylvia was friends with my sister, Becky Ott. OUr deepest condolences to all of you and your families. I was privileged to know Bill at ASU, both as an athlete (as a member of the "Indian Family" I saw him at every game) and in ROTC (as Colonel in the ROTC Princess Platoon), and as roommate with his sister, Sylvia. I found Bill to be the epitome of a Southern Gentleman, even though he came from up East! (Ask Sylvia if she remembers the time she borrowed his car so we could go to pick daffodils.. ) I hold you, his family, in my heart and prayers as you mourn his death and celebrate his life. May he rest in peace and rise in glory, and always be remembered as a good man...

When I was 8, I was eating at bookbinders with my parents and friends. I loved the Eagles, and was told they often went there. After dinner a whole bunch of eagles show up. My dad pointed and said that's Bill Bergey. I went up for an autograph, and it was Guy Morris, the center who was a fantastic person. I walked back to rh table and said I'm not sure what the autograph says. My mother told me it said guy something.... I then said oh man I thought I met Bill Bergey. A minute later Mr. Bergey came up and said I heard someone here was looking for me. Autograph obtained, completely star struck. Thanks Bill for making this kids day. RIP

I first met Bill at Stanley's Tavern during Monday Night Football. He had a sidekick, Gianni. Over the years Gianni left MNF and my friend passed so Bill would often invite me to sit with him. As I was also a season ticket holder we often shared times at games and special events. I am honored to be able to have been a fan/friend. Sunday's game was played for him and boy did we celebrate Bill with a WIN! Stay close Bill, we need you in the playoffs! Peace to his family.
