Obituary of Charles H. Gaebel
Charles H. Gaebel, age 61 of Kennett Square, PA passed away peacefully at his home on November 8th surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Unionville, PA, he was the son of the late William "Fritz" Gaebel and Virginia Banks. Charles, 'Charley', went to Unionville High school and graduated in 1982 where he met his high school sweetheart and wife of 35 years, Denise Martin Gaebel. They had three daughters, Margaret (Maggie), Alison (Ali), and Elizabeth (Lizzie). Charley grew up in the excavating business and worked for his father through and after high school where his love for excavation began. He took a break from excavation in 2000 and worked in sales with his wife for 5 years gaining experience and confidence in selling his work. He then went on to start his own excavating business, Trio Excavating, which he operated for the last 17 years. Charley was devoted to his family and his faith, and a member of Redeemer Fellowship Church in Newark, DE. He contributed much time and business resources to prepare the church's land for its new building construction. One of his greatest joys was going to the University of Delaware field hockey games, where his youngest daughter Lizzie played. He also loved to be active; Charley belonged to Orange Theory Fitness and enjoyed competing with his wife and daughters in the fitness challenges. He also had a passion for Philadelphia sports teams and could be found in his kitchen chair, 'dad's chair', watching any sport on the TV at night after work. Charley bought a Ford Bronco in 2023, which he was very proud of, and loved driving with both the top and doors off in the summer. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Denise Martin Gaebel, 3 daughters, Maggie Gaebel, Ali (Thomas) Mallon, and Lizzie (Tim) Fitzgerald and 4 siblings, Cynthia Pizziketti, Heather Myers, Trudi Giuliani and Tom Gaebel. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 15th from 9:30-11:00AM at the Covenant Fellowship Church, 1 Fellowship Dr, Glen Mills, PA followed by a Memorial Service at 11AM. Interment will remain private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charley's memory may be made to the Redeemer Fellowship Church Building Fund, 1300 Paper Mill Rd., Newark, DE 19711 (www.redeemerde.org).
