Al was a great advocate for the Chester and Delaware County Chambers of Commerce. I was blessed to work with him and have him as our Chairman of the Board during my tenure at the Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry. Al cared very deeply about the Greater Philadelphia region and always gave back to the community. More importantly, he was a mentor to so many of us who worked with him. I will always remember his can-do attitude and willingness to help others for the betterment of the community. His legacy will not be forgotten, and I will be forever grateful for his friendship, mentorship and support throughout my career. RIP Al.

Albert was my cousin. My father and his father were brothers. My father loved Albert and loved seeing him. I can still see my father’s face light up when Albert walked into a room. Albert looked just like both of our fathers! When I think of my father’s final weekend of his life, Albert came to visit and my father’s eyes lit up when he saw him. He sat with my Dad, talking and laughing, like nothing bad was happening that day. At some point during the afternoon, my dad said, “I feel like eating soup”, and I said I would get it. My cousin Albert jumped up and said HE wanted to get it, and when he brought it to my father, my eyes filled up. You would have thought Albert handed him gold. Five minutes later, my father said, “I feel like eating ice cream”. Once again, Albert jumped up and said, “I’ll get it Uncle Mike”! Albert ran back to the kitchen and brought it back and handed my father the bowl. He stood right next to the bed rails as they resumed their conversation once again. They didn’t miss a beat. I’ll never, ever forget the joy that Albert brought my father that day. He was truly a shining light in this world. I know all of our parents were there to greet him into the most beautiful, peaceful place, where there’s no pain or sadness. Rest in peace, Albert

My heartfelt condolences to the Melfi family. I knew Al my whole life and volunteered with him at Yeadon Fire Company as well as many other activities. I was friends with the Melfi family and Al came from good stock.
Al was funny, generous and compassionate and his untimely passing will certainly be a loss to the world!
RIP Al!

I am so sorry to hear of Al’s passing. Al was a firefighter in Yeadon with myself and my 5 brothers.
He never forgot his roots or anyone he met along the way. When he learned that Broomall Fire Company was trying to obtain a loan to construct a new building, he jumped in and helped us obtain financing; explaining to bank officials how vitally important the volunteer service is to the community.
Rest in peace.
