Obituary of Clara Ruth Wirth

Clara R. Wirth "Clare", of Chadds Ford, PA., 88, formerly of Thornton, PA. passed away peacefully on Monday, April 10, 2023.

Born in Andover, Ohio and raised in Jefferson, Ohio, Clare was the daughter of Leighton and Lillian Stevens. She cherished her childhood memories with her parents and seven siblings. She graduated from Jefferson High School, where she excelled academically. She then proudly graduated as a Registered Nurse from Huron School of Nursing in Cleveland, Ohio. Clare worked as a pediatric nurse for many years before transitioning to geriatrics.

With her beloved husband, Richard "Dick," they enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, and being active members of the St. Cornelius Church in Chadds Ford, PA.

Clare is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dick, son, Gregory (Laura), daughters, Debra Detweiler (Thom) and Michelle Verdi (Fran), grandchildren, Ryan (Francesca), Benjamin, Hannah, Anthony and Francesca, siblings Fran, Betty (Larry), Shirley, Joyce, Herman (Jean), Larry, and Richard (Nancy), and extended family of nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Leighton and Lillian, in laws, Audrey and Bruce Alexander, Johnny Wilson, Carl Stokes, and Phil Greenberg, nephew, James Wilson, and Chris Zaebst.

Viewing is Monday, April 17, 2023 at 9:30am and Mass is at 10:30am at St. Cornelius Church, 160 Ridge Rd, Chadds Ford, PA. Interment, at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery.
