I met Ronnie after I was married to his brother, Robert, along with their other siblings. Not long after Ronnie and Shirley were married, we all gathered in Falls City, Nebraska, for food and family fun. Here comes Ronnie with Shirley driving up in a little fiat car. (Of course as we got older, we couldn't fit into a fiat.) He was so proud of his beautiful wife, Shirley. Fifty three years later, remaining together through God's grace and family that prayed together, stayed together.
My husband, Robert (Ronnie's brother), did not live nearby, so visits were by phone. Many long phone conversations. Both Robert and Ronnie were very opinionated on subjects and politics. A lot of their conversations were what each had done when they were kids from wrecking cars to something each got blamed for and to them, it was the other person that did the unmentionable act. We will never know the facts.
It was difficult on Ronnie and family at times because of his illnesses and recovery periods. All these trying times, I saw Ronnie love his family more and try to assure they got the education and needs so they have a better life.
Death leaves us with a heartache, but the love for Ronnie from family and friends will become part of us.
Ronnie is with us always. He was with us during his life time and now will always be with us in our memory.
We will miss him and pray God will protect Shirley, children, and grandchildren as they face each morning.
My heart hurts for you and you go through these difficult days.
Love,
Marla

My heartfelt condolences to Cousin Shirley and her family from Linda Koziol. I recall being at Ron and Shirley's wedding reception and all the fun that everyone had. Ron was such a sweetheart and you could tell they were both smitten with each other. I live on the West Coast, so I didn't get to see Ron and Shirley much at all, and the last visit was in 2008 at Jean Koziol's birthday party in West Chester, PA when this photo was taken. Rest in Peace, Ron.

Ronnie was was a like a brother to me,I can't remember not ever not knowing him. Our family members where close but Ronnie and I had a special connection. He and I have spend many special hours together even being miles apart. Ronnie was man's man that said and done as he wanted to do the reasons why I loved him like a brother. Rest in peace my dear friend, we will meet again. Blessings to all family members.

I am so sorry to learn that my cousin Ronnie has passed away.
I met him when I was just a little kid, when my family visited Bob and Mary Stevens' farm. A highlight of the visit for me was getting to ride the family's pony with my cousin Nancy, while the other Stevens kids looked on.
The last time I saw Ronnie was when he and Shirley visited my mother, Ella Stevens, in Horton, Kansas. Ronnie and Shirley had been on a trip, I believe, to pick up a dog that they had adopted. How sweet of them to make a long trip to save a dog.
I send my deepest sympathy to Shirley and all of Ronnie's family.
May he rest in peace, and may you remember all of the best things about his time with you.

My family lived in the Midwest, so we didn't get to see Ron and Shirley that much. But I do remember them visiting us years ago on their way from Pennsylvania to Ron's home. I'm not sure if Ron and Shirley were even married yet. I remember they drove a little sports car.... a Triumph, perhaps? I was a young teenager and thought Ron was cool. I had a bit of a crush on him. Also, I could see how much my cousin Shirley really loved Ron. Thanks for your service, Ron, and Godspeed.
