Obituary of Thomas Leo Meehan
Thomas Leo Meehan, age 89 of Garnet Valley, PA passed away on November 28, 2020 at Riddle Memorial Hospital. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Tom resided for the past 2 years with his wife and daughter in the Belmont community in Garnet Valley, previously residing more than 50 years in the Westbrook Park section of Clifton Heights. After serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict, he worked for Jerrold Electronics (General Instrument) for more than four decades, initially as a truck driver and later in their finance and accounting office. He retired at the age of 64. Tom was an avid gardener with a particular fondness for roses. He also had a passion for all things outdoors; be it a visit to the cabin in upstate PA, a walk in the woods, hunting, fishing, watching the wildlife or sitting by the bay in North Cape May enjoying the view. His greatest passion, however, was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Thomas and Mary Ellen, Tom (or Leo to some family members) is preceded in death by 2 children, Eileen Vella and Thomas Meehan Jr., a daughter-in-law, Joanne Meehan, as well as 7 siblings. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mae Meehan, 3 children, Peggy Meehan, Francis (Lisa) Meehan and Brian (Kim) Meehan, a son in law, Philip Vella, 8 grandchildren, Jaclyn (Justin) Godshall, Lauren Vella and Fran, Kelly, Austin, Jack, Bryan and Alaina Meehan, 2 great grandchildren, Miles and Henry Godshall and a sister, Peg Nicholson. A visitation, limited to family, will be held on Wednesday, 12-1PM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA followed by a funeral liturgy at 1:00PM. Interment, S.S.
