Obituary of George Thomas Upton III

It is with great sadness that the family of George "Tom" Thomas Upton III, age 78 of Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania announces his passing. On August 26, 2019, Tom died peacefully surrounded by his beloved family at home after a brief but fierce battle with cancer. Born and raised in West Philadelphia, he resided for the majority of his adult life in Delaware County, most recently in Garnet Valley. Prior to that, he made his home in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania with his wife and two children for more than 30 years. Tom worked in the printing industry for Pearl Pressman-Liberty Printing for over 20 years before retiring in 2005. A proud graduate and active alumni of Girard College for Boys' Class of 1957, Tom went on to earn his bachelor's degree in printing management from West Virginia University Institute of Technology. He was a Free and Accepted Mason and a member of Masonic Lodge #711 in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, George Thomas Jr. and Ratie Long Upton. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 57 years, Joan Boyd Upton, along with his two children, Stacey (Chris) Bunce of Garnet Valley and Tom (Peggy) Upton of West Chester. Pop-pop will be forever missed by his three loving grandchildren, Spencer Upton, Hannah Bunce, and Abby Bunce. Funeral Services and Interment are private.
