Dear Jackie,
You have our deepest sympathy. Ann was a great lady. She will be missed but she is now at peace with her granddaughter.
With love to your family,

I’m so sad to hear about Aunt Anna. I will miss her so much. I will always remember her enthusiasm, love of family, and kindness. She was a woman ahead of her times as were her sisters. My deepest sympathy, Ermellina.

The day will come
When my body no longer exists
But in the lines of this poem
I will never let you be alone
The day will come
When my voice is no longer heard
But within the words of this poem
I will continue to watch over you
The day will come
When my dreams are no longer known
But in the spaces found in the letters of this poem
I will never tired of looking for you

Death, in all of its dark mystery and pain will define life- your life. In years since my own brush with death, I re-defined what it means to be alive. Just when I thought I know as much as possible about life through death, I learned a new lesson today. Not by facing off against the grim reaper again but by having to accept the lesson of living through the death of my precious Aunt Anna.
The woman was a kind and hard working and progressive self-made woman who toiled in the General Electric factory for years . Upon retirement she decided that she needed to have fun...... and went back to work in her 60s as a sales lady in a department store. She suffered unbearable heartache throughout her life but always loved as ferociously as she lived. Those values were taught to all of the women on my moms side of the family which is matriarch dominant. The guys took a back seat on mom’s side of the family .... and still do !!!!
“don’t ever cry over anything Dan-Dan, there’s nothing that a good laugh and a good cocktail wont solve”.
One of 10 children (8 girls and 2 boys) ...... she was towards the youngest of my grandmother’s siblings. Born and raised in the carefree otherworldly Meadows where their home was torn down to expand the Philadelphia Airport. Everyone moved to Elmwood and planted roots , deep roots.
She was loving and caring and always demonstrated these gifts with tokens: loop jackets, Barbies, gold trinkets , anything she knew would make you smile.
As you take your seat at the dinner table with your siblings let me thank you for sharing your incredible self with the world. I promise not to tell all of your secrets about places and things that you and I share but I promise to tell the world how wonderful and beautiful you are.
Sleep tight Aunt Anna..... watch over us and remember that we love you and I will always look to the sky for you.
Love
Dan-Dan
