Obituary of Monique Pierredon

Monique Pierredon, devoted mother of Jean-Pierre and Jacques Finnell, and loving grandmother to Sean, Caroline, Ryan, Luke, John and Nathan, passed away July 10th at age 86.

Born in Nimes, France, Monique was the youngest of six children to Albert Pierredon and Blanche Eyraud. Having grown up in France during World War II, she witnessed the atrocities of war first-hand and was driven to realize a better life for herself. In 1959, she emigrated to the United States as a young woman determined to pursue the American dream.

Within the next seven years she started a family and founded Le Steak, a French bistro in New York City that specialized in steak-frites with her signature herb mustard sauce. A woman of indomitable spirit and keen intuition, she grew Le Steak into a chain of award-winning restaurants in Washington DC, Virginia, Florida and Texas that were beloved by thousands of customers over her forty-year career as a restaurateur. Her success was shared not only by her family, but by hundreds of employees, many of whom were immigrants that she sponsored so they could realize the American dream as well.

Monique was a loving single mother who inspired her two sons, Jean-Pierre and Jacques, with her strength, integrity and generosity. A woman of classic beauty and charisma buoyed by her strong sense of spirituality and relentless pursuit of her dreams, she will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 19, 2019, at Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley, PA 19060. Visitation will start at 2pm followed by the Memorial service at 3pm.
