I am very sorry to have heard of the passing of Dave. He was a very good person a outstanding fireman and Chief. I had the pleasure of answering many calls with him and never worried about any rider's hegave on a scene. I remember fondly the many nights he came up to the station with Linda and all the laughs we had as a crew and family of firefighters. If I remember right he was one of first to put on the floor that ladies were welcome to be firefighters. I could not attend due to my own health but my Brother E. J. Hall is there on my behalf and his own behalf as a fellow firefighter also. Dave your family is and will miss you but rest in the kingdom of the Lord and thank you for all you did and what you stood for.

From the Officers and Members of Ogden Fire Company No. 1:
David L. Holland became a member of Ogden Fire Company No. 1 as a “Junior Member” in December, 1969. During his Fifty (50) years of service to the community, Dave never wavered is his effort to improve Fire Service and Emergency Management in Upper Chichester Township. Having served in various capacities in the leadership of Ogden Fire Company, to include President and Chief, and within other associated Delaware County Organizations, he demonstrated a strong commitment in support of their goals and objectives. This personal sacrifice should be an example to all and is unparalleled in today’s demanding volunteer environment. Affectionately known as “Fire Plug” to his close friends, the term actually epitomizes the value of the “fire plug” as an essential element in fire suppression, and so was Dave the strong foundation for the firefighting community in the Township. While he struggled with health issues along the way, he never forgot how to smile. Being a second generation firefighter, Dave followed in the tradition of his father, George, and his mother Vivian who was a Life Member of the Ogden Ladies’ Auxiliary, understanding from them the importance of self-sacrifice and true dedication. Thru Dave’s involvement at Ogden (Station 55) he met his wife Linda. Linda stood behind Dave and allowed him to be shared so that others would benefit for which we are grateful. Other members of the Holland family have and are still volunteering in the Fire Service carrying on this family tradition. Having joined as a “Junior Member” just a few months before Dave in August, it was quite apparent to me that Dave was destined to become not only a great firefighter but a great man, husband, father, and leader in the fire service. His attributes were seen by others in Delaware County who enlisted his support for which he freely gave his time. Volunteers know the personal sacrifice they make at the expense of their families and personal endeavors, but Dave took this step without hesitation, and shared his abilities and strengths for the greater good. This is a sad time for us all; especially the Holland Family, but we who knew Dave all have become part of the greater Holland Family. Let us reflect and remember the good times, mindful that Dave will us be with us in Spirit. May we use his example to motivate us to bring out our best in helping others. Dave went from us in peace knowing that he has fulfilled his duty, made it through the flames, helped young and old along the way, have given the best in him, while always being alert, protecting the lives and property of people he did not know, giving his life for these principles for which no man have greater love, and we ask God to bless his family and stand-by all Firefighters and EMS personnel at this time of grief. We know Dave will continue to smile upon us and want us to the carry on in the fullness of his memory. My friend, our colleague, “Rest in Peace.”
