Barry also touched my life. He rented a room in our house for a few years when I was 14 I in Springfield, PA. He was a super bright, positive and encouraging soul and probably the nicest person I have ever known.
I love you my brother and will miss you always. My deepest sympathy to all of his family. May God keep you strong.

Our daughter, Sydney, was a youth when Barry was the Youth Pastor at VPC. He was AMAZING. He was such a wonderful, fun, and inspiring leader for the youth group. Under Barry’s leadership, the VPC program has been an extremely important foundation that has benefited our daughter through high school, college, graduate school and now young adulthood. Our prayers are with the family. The Sampsons

I so dearly loved working with Barry at United Lutheran Seminary. From the moment he stepped on campus his heart, joy and light we evident and infectious. I will deeply miss him and the friendship we built over these last very short 18 months. He brought joy and laughter with him, as well as creativity, enthusiasm and integrity. I am sad to have him gone from this world so early in his life. My heart is with you as you mourn his death and as we give thanks for the hope we live in the resurrection. Warmth, love and hugs to all of you.

Saying a prayer for Barry and his family. He was always such an impressive presence to me. Without his ministry I wouldn’t have met my husband or had our awesome kids. He showed such intense passion for everything he did and connected in a way that was so genuine and kind.

We only had Barry with us for a relatively short sojourn at United Lutheran Seminary, but he made a remarkable contribution to our new institution, both personally and professionally. Barry was always a gracious and positive person in our community. Our hearts ache for his family but I'm sure his resilience, intelligence and hope are gifts which will stay with you. I'm sorry that I cannot attend the memorial service but know that our prayers are with you all.
