Obituary of Ethel Mae Burns

Ethel Mae Tipton Burns, age 97 of Media, PA passed away on February 1, 2019 just a few hours before her 98 birthday at Sun Rise Assistant Living in Media, PA. Born in Pottsville and raised in St. Clair, PA, she was a longtime resident of Delaware County and Wilmington, DE. A homemaker and longtime caregiver for both of her parents, Ethel worked in her earlier years as a key punch operator for Baldwin Locomotive in Eddystone, PA. She graduated from St. Clair High School Class of 1938 and was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church since 1970, where she was active in the Lady's Circle group. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Harry E. and Audrey M. Jones Tipton; husband, Robert R Burns, who passed in 2016; and her son, Robert S. Burns who passed in 1953. She is survived by 4 children, Joanne (Edwin) Truitt, Gail Lecher, Raymond R (Lynn) Burns and Ronald (Lisa) Burns, 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Tuesday 10-11AM, at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA, followed by a funeral service at 11AM. Interment is at Glenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Broomall, PA. Donations in her memory may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1120 Darley Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
