Obituary of Jerel D. Smith

Jerel "Jerry" D. Smith Sr., age 69, of Linwood, PA passed away peacefully on January 19, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at VNA Hospice. Born in Chester, PA to the late John and Elizabeth Cathcart Smith, Jerry was raised in Trainer, PA. He has been a longtime resident of the Linwood section of Upper Chichester, PA. Jerry was employed over 15 years with Phoenix Steel and later with various companies in the area performing maintenance. He was a member of the Trainer United Methodist Church. He also was a longtime member of the Viscoe Fire Company in Marcus Hook where he once served as president. In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed bowling and visiting the Ocean City Beach in Maryland, but most importantly, spending time with his family and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 3 brothers, Harold, Gil and Gene Smith. Jerry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Jane Smith (Ford), 3 children, Jerry (Danielle Mann) Smith Jr., Cindy Rudisell and Jason Smith, a sister, Lois Smith and 9 grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 25, from 10-11AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA followed by a Funeral Service at 11AM. Interment, Mt. Hope Cemetery, Aston, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
