Obituary of Albert F. Chelius

Albert F. Chelius, age 88, of Glen Mills, PA, passed away at his home on October 15, 2018. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Yeadon, PA, Albert has resided at Maris Grove for the past nine years. He previously resided in Drexel Hill and in S.W. Philadelphia. After graduating from West Catholic High School, he attended LaSalle University, where he received his bachelor's degree in business administration, and the Wharton School of Business, where he earned his master's degree. He served in the Army after the Korean conflict. Albert was a teacher and an administrator for the Interboro School District for 37 years. He retired from administrative work in 1992 and was inducted into the Interboro High School Hall of Fame in 2002. In addition to his parents, Albert D. and Mary Higgins Chelius, he is preceded in death by a son who died as an infant, Albert J. Chelius; a grandson, John J. Chelius Jr.; two brothers-in-law, John E. Meehan and Charles Bowman; and three sisters-in-law, Barbara Bowman, Jane Meehan, and Betty Meehan. Albert is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Margaret Meehan Chelius; six children, Joseph (Patricia), James (Julie), John (Mary), Mary Roth, Daniel (Jennifer Dudley), and Margaret (William) Thornton; a brother, Thomas V. Chelius (Joanne); a sister-in-law, Sr. Alice Mary Meehan R.S.M.; and two brothers-in-law, Peter Meehan and Francis (Marie) Meehan; eleven grandchildren; and one great grandchild. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church (New Church), 430 Valleybrook Rd., Glen Mills, PA, followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at S.S. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Albert's name may be made to the Sisters of Mercy, 515 Montgomery Ave., Merion Station, PA 19066.
