Obituary of Charles H. Smith

Charles H. "Lefty" Smith, Sr., age 84, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2018 at Heartland Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. Born in Woodlyn, PA to the late Harry and Helen Czerny Smith, Charles currently resided at Forwood Manor in Wilm., DE previously residing in Newark, DE & Chester, PA. Charles was employed for 45 years at Sun Oil Co. retiring in 1997. An avid bowler, Lefty bowled in several leagues, he also enjoyed fishing, watching the Phillies and visiting Delaware Park. In addition to his parents, Charles is predeceased by his brother, Thomas Smith. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Josephine Iacono Smith, a daughter, Deborah (Jayne) Smith, a son, Charles (Suzanne) Smith Jr., 3 sisters, Joan Economos, Betty Kozur & Carol Williams, 3 grandchildren, Ashley and Charlie Smith & Lauren (Mike) Harris. A visitation will be held on Friday 9:00-10:15AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Road, Wilmington, DE. Interment, All Saints Mausoleum.
