Obituary of Edward P. Concannon

Edward P. "Ted" Concannon, age 54 of Wilmington, DE died peacefully on August 6, 2018 at Heartland Hospice. Born, raised and educated in Philadelphia, he resided for the past 20 years in the Winterset Farms community, previously residing in S.W. Philadelphia. A chef manager for Compass Foods, Ted previously worked for DuPont Children's Hospital in Wilmington. He graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic High School for Boy's in 1982, earning his Bachelor's degree in Human Resources from the University of Phoenix in 2016, and in his earlier years he graduated from the Restaurant School of Philadelphia. Ted was a member of the Church of the Holy Child where he was a Eucharistic Minister and a Religious Education Teacher. He enjoyed cooking, watching movies, baking, making Irish Potatoes, Irish Soda Bread, Shepard's Pie, wine and mead. Ted is preceded in death by his parents, James P. Sr. and Mary E. Concannon, 2 siblings, Michael J. Concannon and Catherine Delia Blaney. He is survived by 4 siblings, James P. (Wendy Herman) Concannon, Mary "Kay" Rzucidlo, Patrick J. (Maryrita) Concannon, Martin John Concannon, and also many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Saturday 9:30-10:30AM at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington, DE, followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30AM. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Lazarus Committee at the Church of the Holy Child. In celebration of his life, Ted asked that everyone wear their favorite Hawaiian shirt or bright colors to the services.
