Obituary of Herbert B. Smith

Herbert B. "Herb" Smith Jr., age 75 of Chadds Ford, PA, died peacefully on July 28, 2018, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Herb is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Joan Williamson Smith, 4 adoring daughters, Kelly (Steve) Patterson, Kim (Charlie) Bullock, Victoria (John) Wojdak and Emily (Dana) Fordyce, a brother, Joe Smith and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Heather, his brother, Jerry and his parents. Originally from West Philadelphia, Herb resided for the past 45 years in Chadds Ford and was an active member of St. Cornelius parish. He was a proud alumnus of St. Tommy Moore HS, class of 1960 and Villanova University. Herb proudly served in the US Navy as LTJD during the Vietnam War, and enjoyed going to the gun range, military history, crossword puzzles and going to the gym. A visitation will be held on Saturday 9:00-10:45AM at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, 160 Ridge Road, Chadds Ford, PA followed by a Funeral Mass at 11AM. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to LEEK Hunting & Mountain Preserve.
