Peter V.R. Steele II, age 87 of Wilmington, DE passed peacefully on June 7, 2018. Born to the late Peter V.R. Steele I and Mary Smith Steele in Buffalo, NY, he resided most of his life in Wilmington, and in the last 9 years in Arden, DE. He had a love for the outdoors especially in the west, dividing his time between Rivulet, Montana and Delaware. After serving in the Navy during the Korean Conflict, he earned his Engineering degree at the University of Delaware. Peter was employed as an Electrical Engineer for Burroughs Corporation/Unisys. He was an avid fly fisherman and a member of Trout Unlimited. His passion was bridge, and he played in the Bridge Club at the Sellers Senior Center as well as a bridge club in Montana. He was also a member of the Nordel Model Railroad Club. The highlight of his life was spending time with his family and grandchildren. Above all, he will be remembered as a man with a big heart who shared his love of the wilderness with all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his daughter, Terry (Joseph) Haskell-McDonald, son, Peter V.R. (Kit) Steele III; his companion, Anna Mae Clarke; step brother, Fred (Sonia) Moore; grandchildren, Christopher (Amanda) Haskell, Molly Haskell and Dana Steele; step-grandchildren Joseph (Michelle) and Jon McDonald; great grandchildren, Allie and Benson Haskell; and step-great grandchild, Fiona McDonald. Memorial Service and Interment will be at 2:00pm on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE. Donations in his memory may be made to Sellers Senior Center, or the Nordel Model Railroad Club.
