Obituary of Lina A. Nickle

Lina Ann Nickle of Garnet Valley, PA went home to be with her Lord on February 23, 2018. Born in Georgetown, DE January 3, 1936, Lina graduated from Georgetown High School in 1954, with perfect attendance and straight "A" grades for all 12 years. During her senior year, she was chosen "Miss Delmarva Poultry Queen" and was awarded a 4 year scholarship to James Madison College. A 41 year career as a legal secretary ensued. She receiving the highest scores in New Castle County's history for typing and shorthand and was selected to be secretary to New Castle County Council. Lina was a private person, and if given the choice of walking in a woods alone or being at a party, she would choose the walk in the woods. It was said that she preferred animals to most people. She had a long term marriage to her first husband, Joe Lane, that produced 3 loving and caring children. She married Robert "Bob" Nickle 1986. Travel became her joy as they visited exotic locations throughout the western hemisphere, one of her most favorite trips was off-road driving through the Rockies with former classmates. After much resistance Bob taught her the love of fishing and just slow cruising on their boat named "Lina's Trophy." She was known as "That walking lady" because of her daily routine of long walks that allowed her to clear her head and feel the warm sun on her. Lina found solace in giving her life to Jesus Christ. Christ gave her strength throughout her life, and granted her peace in her final moments on this earth. We would like to thank Christiana Hospital and Seasons Hospice care for the wonderful treatment of Lina and her family. They were wonderful!
