Obituary of George Karras
George Karras, age 88, of Long Beach Island, NJ passed away peacefully on January 4, 2018 at his daughter's home in Garnet Valley, PA. Born in Chicago, IL, George has resided on Long Beach Island for 20 years, and has been a lifelong resident of New Jersey. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Merchant Marines, George later had a career as a Commercial Real Estate Appraiser. He enjoyed spending winters at his home in Naples, FL and always looked forward to long walks on the beach. He was a car enthusiast and also WWII movie buff. George enjoyed boating, antiques and staying in shape. In addition to his parents, John and Magdalen Karras, he is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Dovas Karras who died in 2015 and a brother, Thomas Karras. He is survived by 4 children, John Karras, Magda Constantino Karras, Steve Karras and Georgia Hamm, grandchildren, Marianna (Christopher) VanDeboe, Christina Constantino, Nicholas Constantino, Michelle Hamm, Jonathan Hamm, Thomas Hamm and Andrew Karras. Services and interment will remain private. In lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory may be made to either the Abramson Cancer Center at Chester County Hospital, 701 E. Marshall St., West Chester, PA 19380 or St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 30 E. Forge Rd., Media, PA 19063.
