Obituary of Edward C. Jones

Edward C. Jones, Jr., age 97, of Maris Grove, Glen Mills, PA, passed away on December 28, 2017. A native of Columbus, OH., he was a resident of Chadds Ford, PA for 40 years. Edward was the son of the late Edward C. and Helen Wills Jones. He graduated from the Ohio State University in l941 with a degree in Industrial Engineering and was employed by the DuPont Co. following graduation. During World War II he served as a captain in the US Army Corps of Engineers, stationed in Alaska where he worked on the construction of the Alcan Highway. After the war, he returned to the DuPont Co., where he was employed for over 40 years. He worked in Old Hickory, TN, Martinsville, VA, Chattanooga, TN, Kinston, NC and Wilmington, DE. He was an excellent golfer and played until he was in his eighties. In his retirement years, he became an excellent duplicate bridge player. He and his wife Doris achieved the rank of "Gold Life Master". He enjoyed all sports and was an avid Ohio State University fan. He was a good friend to all and a loving and devoted father. In addition to his parents, Edward was predeceased by his loving wife of 75 years, Doris M. Jones and is survived by his loving daughter Linda L. Jones of Raleigh, NC and devoted son David E. Jones of Wilmington, DE. A Memorial Service will be held at Maris Grove Chapel on Wednesday Jan. 3, 2018 at 1 PM. Interment will remain private.
