Obituary of Lois R. Douglas
Lois R. Douglas ( nee Robinson), 84, was born in Lester, PA on Nov. 30, 1931, and left this world for her heavenly home on March 20, 2016. Lois was the third of five children born to Louis and Olga Robinson. She was married to Gordon Gunn Douglas for 42 years before his passing in 1994. She attended Lester Elementary School, and graduated from Ridley Park High School in 1949. Lois was active in athletics playing field hockey and basketball. She was also a color guard in the band, and acted in the school plays at Ridley Park. Lois was an active member of Stonybank Community Church, where her stylish hats and scarves were her trademark. When she and her family moved to Concordville in 1966, she became one of the early officers of the Garnet Valley Sports Boosters. She was active in the RED HAT LADIES of the Valley, and the Concordville Seniors. She assisted in the census, and was a volunteer at Serendipity Thrift shop at Crozer Hospital for many years. A gifted seamstress, she made unique items for children with special needs. Late in life, Lois took some art classes, and soon her paintings of wildlife, flowers and lighthouses became popular. From the Ridley Park Reunions to the Red Hat Ladies, wherever Lois went, her laughter and boundless energy made her the life of the party. Lois was predeceased by her older sister Lorraine Bostedo of Charlotte N.C. She is survived by her older brother Louis Robinson of Middletown, and her two younger sisters; Loretta Robinson Stade of Wallingford, and Linda Robinson of Bridgeville, DE. She was the devoted mother of Lois Suzanne Albany ( Edward) of Greenwood, Indiana, Gordon Glenn Douglas ( Dawn) of Concordville, PA, Scott Kyle Douglas of Alexandria, VA, and Wade Gunn Douglas of Concordville, PA. She has 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter. On Tuesday, March 29, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am there will be a greeting time followed by a "Celebration of Life" service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The service will be held at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Concord Seniors Scholarship Fund.
