Obituary of Larry L. Salvatore
Larry L. Salvatore, age 76, passed away on March 10, 2017 at his home in Glen Mills, PA due to natural causes. Born May 7, 1940 in Birdsboro, PA to Anthony and Miriam (Thren) Salvatore, Larry was the 3rd of 4 children. While serving in the Army, he was stationed in Germany where he was able to enjoy two of his interests, traveling and history. Larry worked at several companies throughout his career, eventually retiring from Zeneca Pharmaceuticals in 1998.
Larry will be remembered for his kind, generous heart. He loved history, especially military history. He diligently recorded his favorite game show, Jeopardy, and usually won every geography and history category. While in Florida, he was a recreational golfer and had illusions of grandeur as do most golfers. Always the first to lend a helping hand, Larry's vast knowledge and skills were called upon often by family and friends. Whether wintering in Florida for the past 16 years, or at home, all knew Larry would be first to help in any way he could. He volunteered with the Delaware Valley Doberman Pinscher Assistance dog rescue (DVDPA) for many years and opened his home to 3 Dobes over 25 years. Beginning in September of 1997, Larry fought a courageous fight for almost 20 years with Mantle Cell non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. In recent years, he also battled heart disease. Never one to complain, he always a had smile on his face and an enviable positive outlook on life. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Donna Salvatore, and a brother, Ronald Salvatore. He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Snyder) Salvatore, his brother Gene Salvatore, 9 nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, 18 great nieces and nephews, and 5 great great nieces and nephews who always brought a smile to his face, all of whom will miss him tremendously. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 20, 2017 at 11:00AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Rd, Wilmington DE where friends may call from 10-11AM.
