Obituary of Douglas John Knierim

Douglas John Knierim, age 80, of Wilmington, DE died peacefully on March 10, 2017 at Elsmere Veterans Hospital. A resident of Wilmington, DE for the past 12 years, Doug previously resided in Bethel Twp., PA. He was a former member of the Bethel Hose Co. and also a past Police officer for the Township. Douglas served his country proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed at one time as a teacher for Northern Chester County Votech. Douglas is preceded in death by his parents, J. Douglas and Ruth Williams Knierim as well as a son, Douglas John Knierim Jr. He is survived by 2 daughters, Carol Rothera and Dawn Spaulding, a companion, Nancy Barefoot, 2 grandchildren, Chas Rothera and Amber Knowlton and a great grandchild, Nora Lynn Knowlton. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-5pm at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA with Masonic services at 5pm followed by Military services. Burial will remain private.
