Obituary of Michael Joseph Piesco
Michael Joseph Piesco Jr., 77 of Garnet Valley, PA died on January 29, 2017 at Neighborhood Hospice. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he resided for the past 11 years in the Foxfield Development in Garnet Valley. Michael was previously a longtime resident of Pelham Manor, NY. A driven entrepreneur, Michael graduated from Brooklyn College and was responsible for many successful businesses and ventures. He owned and operated a trucking and warehouse company, Clipper Worldwide, as well as many other businesses. That list included a ski resort in Vermont, Artie's Warehouse Restaurant in Chelsea and many real estate ventures across NY. Michael was active in his parish, Christ Church in Pelham Manor, NY. There he served as Deacon and Treasurer. He was devoted to his faith and was also a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Wilmington. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Michael J. Sr. and Anna Rose Passaro Piesco, his wife, Laila Irmeli Heiskanen Piesco who died in 2000 and his younger sister, Amelia Zingalli. He is survived by his 3 children, Christopher M. Piesco, Greg G. (Heather) Piesco and Danielle E. (Phillip) Russell, 2 sisters, Marie Gallina Cook and Elizabeth DiIorio, brother, Robert Piesco, devoted partner, Carole Rutkowski, 5 grandchildren, Sydney and Kelsey Piesco, Laila Piesco, Finley and Luca Russell, as well as a host of beloved nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service on Thursday, 2:00 PM at the Pagano Funeral Home (3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA) where friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Interment will remain private. Donations may be made in his memory to Neighborhood Health Hospice (400 Marshall Road, West Chester, PA 19380).
