Obituary of Edward J. Cardow
It is with great sadness that the family of Edward J. Cardow announce his peaceful passing at the age of 91 on January 9, 2025. Born and raised in South Philadelphia, he graduated from Southeast Catholic High School and honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, May 1953 to May 1955. Ed was a proud member of Steamfitters Local 420 since 1952, retiring in September of 1993 and two of his sons continue his legacy as Steamfitters today. Raising his family in Holmes, Ridley Township since 1968. He volunteered his time coaching Kedron Youth Football and Kedron Little League Baseball. A great man of strong faith, he was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus de La Salle Council 590 where he served as a Grand Knight in addition to being a member of Cardinal Dougherty Assembly and a Fourth Degree Knight. Ed was very involved with the Knights and organized many bowling tournaments for them as well as competing in them. Ed was an ardent sports fan who cheered passionately for the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, and Sixers. He enjoyed his retirement years on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City with the love of his life Pauline. Later he became an active member of the Granite Farms Estates community since December of 2006 where he leaves behind many friends. He enjoyed competing in weekly pinochle and poker games. Every Thursday you would find him having lunch with his sons in the Granite Farms cafe. This became a highlight for many residents as more and more joined into share stories and memories.
His love and dedication to his family was evident in all that he did. He was a gentle giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure his family had everything they needed. Cherishing every moment, he spent with his family he taught us the importance of family, hard work, honesty, and doing what is right. He will forever be remembered as a kind and loving soul who always put others before himself as well as having a very unique sense of humor.
Ed is predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Pauline (Hudak) who passed away in 2015 as well as his parents, Edward J. and Emma McBride Cardow. He is survived by one brother James (Bonnie) Cardow and his devoted sons Edward (Karen), John (Sue Ann Rea), and Daniel (Ann). Also leaving behind seven cherished grandchildren, Sarah (Mike Brumbaugh), Emily, Samantha, Allison, Mitchell, Jennifer, and Nicholas and a special great-granddaughter Rylee Brumbaugh. All who gave him endless pride and happiness.
The family extends great appreciation to the caring and compassionate staff and medical aides at Granite Farms Estates. They were and are truly a blessing.
