Obituary of Ralph Montella
Ralph F. Montella, age 92, of Boothwyn, PA, went home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2025. He was born to Carmine and Marie (Imburgia) Montella on August 8, 1932, and attended the public school system in Marcus Hook to Grade 9. He received his secondary education at St. James High School in Chester, PA, graduating in 1950. Ralph served for 3 years in the US Army during the Korean War, stationed in the Philippines as a radio operator with the Army Security Agency. Upon discharge, he attended West Chester State Teacher's College (now West Chester University). After graduation, Ralph taught for many years in the Rose Tree Media School District as a secondary education teacher until his retirement. Devoted to his faith, Ralph was a longtime member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church. He enjoyed sports and was an avid Notre Dame football fan. Ralph took great joy in the simple pleasures of life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, most especially with his niece Marie Montella Datillo and his great-great-nephew Dylan Toscano and Dylan's fiancé, Amanda Fida, who survive him. He is also survived by cousins Josephine "Gigi" Laird, Lois Jacono, and Rosemarie "Queenie" Mayfield as well as extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Carmine and Marie Montella, sisters Mary Middleton, Theresa Antonette, and Susan Montella, and brothers Neil, Carmine, John, and Ernest. A funeral mass will be held at St. John Fisher Church, 4225 Chichester Avenue, Boothwyn, PA, 19061, at 10 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2025, with visitation prior to the mass from 9 to 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
