Obituary of Carol Ann Kane

Carol Kane, 78, of Wilmington, DE, passed away Sunday, December 29th, surrounded by her husband and family. She was the daughter of Martin F Ronan, III and Dorothy Creshine. Carol was raised in Aston, PA, by her paternal grandparents, Martin F. Ronan, Jr and Frances Markiewicz Ronan. She attended St. Joseph's Grade School and then continued on to Notre Dame Catholic Girls High School in Moylan, PA., graduating in the class of 1964. Carol married her loving husband, Richard Kane in 1964. Together they raised two wonderful sons, Martin Richard Kane and Jordan Kane. In addition to her cheerful personality and generous spirit, Carol's creativity took many forms throughout her life. In the early 1960s, Carol studied at the Philadelphia Conservatory of Music. After raising her children, she returned to college as a music major, Studying at Our Lady of Angels College, Immaculata College and West Chester University. Before completing her degree, Carol made a career change and transferred to The Restaurant School in Philadelphia. She then operated a food related business at Booth's Corner Farmer's Market in Boothwyn for six years. In 1987, Carol was employed at Southco, Inc. in Concordville, PA. She was extremely proud of the fact that she was the fourth generation of her family to work at what is now Touch Point, formerly, Southco, Inc, a Subsidiary of the South Chester Tube Company. After 15 years at Southco, Carol finished her career at Neumann University as a secretary in the Campus Safety Department, until her retirement in 2015. Carol was an award-winning photographer with immense creativity who loved to show her work, locally. She was a past member of the Delaware Photographic Society, the Photographic Society of America and Mensa. Carol loved to blog about her photography. Her work can be viewed at http://www.photographybvcarolkane.blogspot.com. Spending hours a day at her computer made Carol immensely happy. She enjoyed working on her images and keeping in touch with her friends from high school and other areas of her life on Facebook. She also loved to make video blog postings from her blog called "For What If its Worth". Carol and Richard were married for 53 years. They enjoyed a life long love that few are lucky enough to experience. They traveled as often as they could, visiting Italy, three times, Monaco, France, Greece, the UK, Ireland, twice, Bermuda, and many US cities. But of all the places they traveled, Carol's heart was in the Southwest and for a time, they owned a home in the Superstition Mountains in Arizona. As a mother, she gave her undying love and support to her children. As proud as she was of her music and her photography work, she considered her boys to be her greatest accomplishment. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren, and her long-time friends, which she cherished through her lifetime. Survivors: Her husband, Richard C. Kane; her two children, Martin R. Kane (Madeline), Jordan Kane (Judy); her two grandchildren, Richard (RJ) Kane (Ally) and Rachael Runge (Nick); and her three great grandchildren Mac Kane, AJ and Marc Runge. Service & Visitation: Carol's life will be celebrated with a visitation that will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2024 from 9:45 - 10:45 AM at The Church of the Holy Child, Wilmington, DE.
