Obituary of Kathleen M. Shallow

Kathleen "Kathy" M. Shallow, age 69, of Garnet Valley, PA, passed away on December 24, 2024, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Born to Joseph T. and Mary Valletti Shallow in Darby, PA, and raised in Southwest Philadelphia, Kathy was a longtime resident of Swarthmore, PA.

Kathy dedicated 38 years of service as a Practice Manager at HUP before retiring in 2019. She was a proud graduate of West Catholic Girls High School and later earned her degree from St. Joseph's University.

Devoted to her faith, Kathy was an active member of St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church in Wallingford, PA. She volunteered every Wednesday at Holy Myrrh-Bearer's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Swarthmore, where she helped make pierogies for church fundraising.

Kathy enjoyed traveling but found her greatest joy in spending time with family and friends. She was the soul of her family and the one who brought everyone together. She was the bridge between her immediate family and her cousins. Her infectious laugh was a staple at every family function.

Kathy is predeceased by her parents and survived by her longtime partner, James Merrill; her brother, Joseph "Skip" Shallow (Helen); and nephews Bryan Shallow, Christopher Shallow (Colleen), and Jeffrey Shallow (Maria). She is also survived by her great-nieces and nephew, Kennedy, Caylee, and JJ.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, from 9:00 to 10:45 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church, 617 S. Providence Road,  Wallingford, PA 19086. Interment will follow at S.S. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA. Donations in her memory may be made to St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church.
