Obituary of Maria B. Soares

Maria B. Soares, age 88, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024 at home. Born in Vaha, Ukraine, Maria immigrated to the United States in 1958 and proudly became a U.S. citizen. She has been a resident of Wilmington for the past 46 years.

A devoted homemaker, Maria was deeply committed to her faith and attended Mass regularly until her health began to decline. She cherished time with her family and found great joy in gardening.

Maria was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Soares; her parents, Andrew and Rozalia Kobyliuk Brodycz; her siblings, Walter Brodycz, Daniel Brodycz, and Natalie Zaparaniuk; and her grandson, David Soares.

She is survived by her loving children, John (Theresa) Soares, Ann Birzes, Tina Donald, and Paul (Kathy) Soares; her sister, Olga Iwanciw; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 9-10AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11AM at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Rd., Wilmington, DE. Interment will be held privately at Lawn Croft Cemetery at a later date.
