What a great photo of Hugh! We have so many good memories of him. Hugh was my boss at the Du Pont Company in Leominster, and he was a great person to work for: kind, supportive, helpful- a real leader. He was a gentle soul, but he could be forceful and strong when he felt someone was being wronged. He insulated me from the wrath of the Plant manager when I was a young 23-year old production supervisor just out of Holy Cross College. I used to kid him because he was always so meticulous in constantly cleaning his glasses.Hugh was a great engineer, and was chiefly responsible for the development of the Reach toothbrush (world's 1st plaque removing manual toothbrush, developed by Tufts University Dental School), and the world's 1st plastic bottle, the famous P.E.T. bottle. Both were huge technical challenges, but Hugh was up to it. He was so proud of Mary, his wife, and his 2 great kids, Kathleen and Rob. I always reminded Hugh that my middle name was Hugh, named for my Irish grandpa, Hugh Foster. As Grandpa always said: "To the Irish, a friend is a friend forever". I thought of that the moment I heard of Hugh's passing. He will be with me always. Today, as we say the Rosary for Hugh, Mary, Kathleen, and Rob, we are certain that Our Lady, Notre Dame, came to meet Hugh and bring him safely home. He is in good hands!
