Obituary of Mary E. Mantegna
Mary Diamond Mantegna, age 94, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Delaware County, passed away on November 8, 2024 at Arden Courts. Born in Chester, PA, Mary was a 1948 graduate of Notre Dame High School, Moylan, and a 1994 graduate of Neumann University, Aston, PA. She was the daughter of William and Agnes McCue Diamond of Chester and was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Vincent S. Mantegna who passed in 1999. Mary was an early officer, secretary of the Garnet Valley Sports Boosters from 1970-1971 and was among the volunteers of residents and teachers who helped establish the Garnet Valley Evening Classes, during 1998-1999. She also volunteered at the Rachel Kohl Library, eventually resigning to care for her husband during his final illness. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary is preceded in death by her siblings, Leonard Diamond, and Jeanne Miller. She is survived by five sons; Vincent J. of Florida, Victor of West Grove, PA, Vito of Texas, Vernon of South Carolina, and Ven of Media, and two daughters; Vali Anderson of West Chester and Victoria Gold of Delaware, nine grandchildren, Angela, Heather, Raena, Lauren, Marci, Keli, Shelby, Natalie, Jessica, Marc, Mason, and, Eric, nine great-grandchildren, Samantha, Kimmy, Maya, Wren, Quinn, Austin, Carter, Bastion, and John III, sister, Billie Taddei, and sister-in-law, Josie Diamond.
