Obituary of Richard A. Varrasse
Richard A. "Rich" Varrasse, age 77, of Boothwyn, PA, passed away on October 31, 2024, at Crozer Chester Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born to Frederick and Elizabeth (nee Sweigert) Varrasse in Philadelphia, PA, Rich had been a resident of Boothwyn for 35 years, previously residing in Marcus Hook, PA.
A proud graduate of St. James High School, Class of 1965, Rich entered the U.S. Air Force the same year and honorably served during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Sergeant before his discharge. He later earned his Bachelor's degree from Widener University and dedicated many years of his life to his profession as a boilermaker with Local Union 13 before retiring.
Rich had a passion for gardening and was an avid supporter of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. An amateur film critic and trivia aficionado, Rich loved challenging himself and others with riddles and puzzles.
Above all, Rich cherished the moments spent with his family. He enjoyed cooking for his loved ones and cherished being with his grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will be held dear.
In addition to his parents, Rich is preceded in death by a sister, Jeanne Varrasse. He is survived by five children, Victoria (Norman) Carey, Jacqueline (Kevin) MacDonald, Nicole (Joseph) Pharaoh, Richard Varrasse Sr., and Miranda (Thomas) McPhillips, former wife, Diana Varrasse, ten siblings, Kevin, Steve, Fred, Michael, and Geoff Varrasse, Mary Williams, Liz Hoch, Anita Boyd, Theresa Ebinger, and Julie Roybuck, as well as his beloved 13 grandchildren, Theresa, Nolan, Mara, Dylan, Maeve, Addison, Molly, Annalise, Harper, Maggie, Izzy, Tommy & RJ.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 4, from 9:30-11:00AM at Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd, Garnet Valley, PA followed by a funeral service at 11:00AM. Interment will remain private. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to support the rebuilding effort for his grandchildren's school, St. Francis of Assisi. (Saint Francis of Assisi School - Springfield PA).
