Obituary of Walter C. Vannett Jr.

Walter C. Vannett Jr., age 78, of Upper Chichester, PA, passed away peacefully at home on September 13, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in North Philadelphia, Walter had resided in Upper Chichester for the past 30 years, having previously lived in Sharon Hill, PA.Walt earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Drexel University in 1970. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era as a member of the U.S. Army and Army Reserve, attaining the rank of Captain. He fufilled his career at Sunoco in Philadelphia, where he retired in 2006.In his spare time, Walt enjoyed a glass of scotch and vacationing in Jamaica. He was a skilled woodworker and photographer, and had a love for Snoopy & Peanuts comics, gardening, NASCAR, and cats. Walt fostered and volunteered with Forgotten Cats in Wilmington, DE, and generously donated his time at St. Francis of Assisi House in Aston alongside his wife.Walt was preceded in death by his parents, Walter C. and Ida Blessing Vannett, and his stepdaughter, Donna Colleluori McCauley.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Theresa S. Vannett (née Slivar); his stepchildren, Karen (Mark) Wagnon and Teresa Colleluori; five grandchildren, Lauren (Pete) Vasiliadis, Kyle Shahinian, Brittany (Anthony DeBarberie) McCauley, Erik (Mallory) Shahinian, and Anna (Matthew) Eller; and three great-grandchildren, Chloe, Nikolaos, and Dean.A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 10-11AM at Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA, followed by a memorial service at 11AM.
