Obituary of Robert W. Denney Sr.

Robert W. Denney Sr., age 72, of Lewes, DE, formerly of Chester, PA, passed away suddenly at his home on September 1, 2024. Bob was an Industrial Arts Major and earned his Bachelor's Degree from Cheyney University.

Bob was a dedicated firefighter, retiring in 2007 as the Fire Chief (Five Horns) from the Boeing Fire Department after more than 20 years of service with the fire department and 29 total with Boeing. His passion for firefighting extended far beyond his career. He volunteered with Chester Township Fire Department formally known as Felton Hose & Chemical Company, where he served in various roles, including Fire Chief for 16 years. Bob also held the positions of Fire Marshal in Chester Township and Deputy Fire Marshal for Delaware County. Additionally, he was an instructor at the Delaware County Emergency Training Center and actively participated in the Delaware County Fireman's Association and the Delaware Valley Fire Chief Association where he held various roles.

In his earlier years, Bob taught Industrial Arts at Smedley Middle School. Outside of his professional life, Bob enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and cheering on the Eagles and Phillies. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Vera May Denney, and his sister, Debra Denney. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Anne Boulden Denney; his three children, Robert Denney Jr., Shannon Denney, and Tara Denney; and his eight grandchildren, Heather Harding, Joseph Denney, Nolan Denney, Emma Four, Savanna Lynn Laskey, Abigail Laskey, Dallas Steere, and Kayli Grant.
