Obituary of Lidie Marie Cavanaugh

Lidie Marie Cavanaugh, age 87, of Glen Mills, PA, peacefully passed away on June 26, 2024, at her home. She was born to George and Lidie Marie Langejans Stead in Philadelphia, PA. Lidie spent the last 11 years in Glen Mills, PA, following 48 years in Aston, PA. Throughout her life, Lidie worked as a key punch operator and held positions at Taylor Hospital, Sun Roc Coolers, and The Elwyn School.

Lidie was known for her outgoing nature and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She had a passion for sports, enjoyed knitting baby blankets for her family, loved to color, and had a sweet tooth. Most of all, Lidie cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lidie was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond D. Cavanaugh, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage, daughter, Linda Cavanaugh, brother, Edwin Stead,  grandson, Dan Hammond, and great-granddaughter, Lily Ruiz. She is survived by her children, Raymond (Mary) Cavanaugh, and Barbara Ann (Jim) Read, sister, Georgia Deeck, son-in-law Jack (Jody) Hammond, 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, with number 15 expected in December.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Concord Liberty Presbyterian Church in Concord, PA. from 9:00-10:00 AM, followed by funeral services at 10:00 AM  Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Broomall, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either  CHOP (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia) at (give2.chop.edu) or Pediatric Cancer Research (cure.pcrf-kids.org).
