Obituary of Kenneth D. Powell Jr.

Kenneth D. "Ken" Powell Jr., age 63 of Garnet Valley, PA passed away on June 20, 2024 at Jefferson Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Ridley Park and raised in Media, PA, Ken "The Captain" resided for the past 37 years in Garnet Valley, previously residing in Brookhaven, PA. He graduated from Penncrest High School, Class of 1978 and earned his law degree from Widener University Delaware Law School in 1985. Ken was a medical malpractice defense attorney for the last 40 years and most recently practiced law at Weber Gallagher. He loved to cook including his famous Christmas Eve parties, Sunday family dinners and homemade breads. In his spare time he enjoyed listening to classical music, jogging and swimming. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Ken is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth D. Powell Sr. and is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara Brodeur Powell, three daughters, Kelly (Greg) Barbish, Kim Godfry, and Michelle (Steve) Gallagher, mother, Barbara Ann Senatz Minton, sister, Jeanne (Michael) Doan, and seven grandchildren, Kennedy, Ella, Samantha, Alyssa, Gregory, Stevie and Luke. Funeral services will be held privately.
