One of the favorite people I have encountered during my 60 years on earth. He always had a light to him and always made the day better for those who would cross paths. Quick with a story or a joke and always focused on you and making your burdens lighter. He will be missed on this earth but made the world a better place in this journey. Ed & Tammy Stiles

“My Lord and my God!”
We are privileged to have known Richard Wirth (a.ka. “Deacon Dick”) whom we met during his time at The Residence assisted living facility in Manahawkin, New Jersey. Twice a month nearby St. Mary’s Parish would provide residents with either Holy Mass or a Communion Service. It was clear from the outset that Deacon Dick was a fiercely loyal yet deeply Humble Servant of God. He would cheerfully and reverently assist the priest and we ministers at services - being sure to politely critique our performance afterwards if it wasn’t quite up to par!
We also came to know Deacon Dick as a very warm, generous, humorous and loving friend. He took time to speak with Patty and I every time we were there. Eventually, he even called Patty between visits just to check in.
On what turned out to be the day before Deacon Dick went home to God, we were able to visit with him and gave him Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. Afterwards - despite how poorly he was feeling - and knowing exactly what was happening - the last words we heard him speak were, “My Lord and my God!” We expected nothing less from the man we were honored to know as a truly Humble Servant of God.
Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis.

Deacon Wirth holds a very special place in my heart and a very close bond with my daughter Kendall.
When I was placed on bedrest for 90 days during my pregnancy with my daughter Kendall, Deacon Wirth traveled over 30 minutes EVERY Sunday to share holy communion and blessings with me, Kendall, and my family. Even a flat tire in the rain didn't stop him from visiting us and sharing the word of the Lord and praying for a healthy delivery of Kendall.
Deacon Wirth resided over Kendall's baptism and it was the most beautiful ceremony I ever attended!
He never missed sending a birthday greeting to Kendall, and also to me!
He always made us smile, gave us hope, and made our hearts so warm and happy.
God bless Deacon Wirth!
