Obituary of Edward Houtmann

Edward Houtmann, age 67, of Chester Heights, PA, passed away at his home on June 2, 2024. Born to the late Edouard and Mary Beane Houtmann, Ed resided in Chester Heights for thirty years, living previously in Media, PA.  Ed was Vice President and surveyor of G.D. Houtmann & Son, Civil Engineers and Land Surveyors, a family-owned business firm where he collaborated with his brothers, Matt, Gus, and John.  Ed graduated from Garnet Valley High School, class of 1975. Ed was an outdoors enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, skeet shooting, and boating. He was a skilled marksman and member of the Delaware County Field  and  Stream.  He sailed competitively and was a frequent racer along the East Coast Sailing Circuit.  Ed was an adept mechanic whose interests included restoring a Corvette, Sunday afternoon rides on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and attending military airshows and NRHA races. He passed along his love of the outdoors to his family and countless friends. Ed is survived by five siblings, Martha (Joseph) Provanzano, Matthew (Nancy) Houtmann, Jane Houtmann, Gustave (Barbara) Houtmann and John (Margaret) Houtmann, fifteen nieces and nephews, and seven great nieces and nephews.  A visitation will be held on Monday, June 10th, from 9:30-10:45 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 35 New Road, Aston, PA followed by an 11:00 a.m. mass of Christian burial.  Internment will remain private.  Donations in his memory may be made to the Navy Seal Foundation, at www.navysealfoundation.org. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.paganofuneralhome.com
