Obituary of Francis "Frank" John Kushner

Francis “Frank” John Kushner, 91, of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2024.

Born and raised in Chester, PA, he was the son of the late John and Stella (nee Bawduniak) Kushner and dear brother of the late John F. Kushner. Frank was the beloved husband of Jane (nee Sacharok) Kushner; loving father of Gregory (Noreen) Kushner, Dr. Stephen (Pamela) Kushner, Michael Kushner, and Jane (Doug) Calandra; grandfather to Lauren (Trevor) Finley, Abigail (Ryan) Walters, Morgan Kushner, Kelsey Kushner, Nicole Kushner, Anthony Calandra, Will Calandra, and Luke Calandra; great grandfather to Oliver, Crew and Andrew.

Frank attended St. James High School and was a graduate of LaSalle College, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and later obtaining further education from the University of Pennsylvania. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

His professional career included starting his own private practice as a Physical Therapist which spanned close to 40 years. Frank was one of the first Physical Therapists to practice in the State of Delaware. Upon retirement in 1997, he relocated with his wife to Lewes, DE, having previously lived in Glen Mills, PA. What mattered most to Frank was family. Frank was married to his lovely wife, Jane for 66 years. He was a devoted husband and together they had a passion for travel, family traditions and watching sunsets on their deck. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren sharing his love of boating, fishing, and crabbing. Family dinners were especially important to Frank and he always loved a party surrounded by family and friends, enhanced by the music of Bob Marley. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan with a great sense of humor and supported “dem bums” year after year despite some tough losses, finally relishing the 2018 Super Bowl victory.

Frank was a faithful member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Glen Mills, PA and later, St. Edmunds Church in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Saturday, June 8th, 2024, from 8:30-9:30AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church (New Church), 430 Valleybrook Rd., Glen Mills, PA. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
