Obituary of Walter J. MacGlaughlin

Walter J. MacGlaughlin, aged 75, passed away peacefully on May 15th, 2024, at Jefferson Hospital. Born in Darby, PA, and raised in Sharon Hill, Walter resided in Garnet Valley for the past six years and was previously a longtime resident of Ridley Township. For 38 years, Walter worked in inventory control at the E. Frank Hopkins Fish Co., before retiring in 2014. He played football at Sharon Hill High School, where he graduated Class of 1968. He served his country, stateside, in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He coached his daughter's softball team in her younger years. Walter enjoyed sports all his life, being a fan of Philadelphia sports, especially the Eagles and the Phillies. He was also known for his love of golf, which he both avidly played and watched on TV. Walter also loved spending time with his two dogs, Gizmo and Bogey. He was also a member of the VFW. In addition to his parents, Walter is preceded in death by seven siblings, Harry (Late Clara) MacGlaughlin, Naomi (Late Herb) Chandler, Louise Green, Betty (Late Robert) Kugel, Barbara (Late Henry) Billbrough, Joan Scott, and William (Rosalie) MacGlaughlin. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sylvia (Bucceroni) MacGlaughlin, his children, Alicia MacGlaughlin, Stephanie (Jack) Mooney, and his four-legged child Bogey, and his siblings, Florence (Late Raymond) Tatarelli, David MacGlaughlin, and Gail (Gerald) Noel. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 20th, from 9:30-11AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA followed by a funeral service at 11AM. Interment will take place at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either DelArc (www.delarc.org) or to the Special Olympics (www.specialolympics.org).
