Obituary of Dorothy E. Gieder

Dorothy E. Gieder "Dot", age 93, of Upper Chichester, PA passed away peacefully at Jefferson Washington Township Hospital, Sewell, NJ on May 6, 2024. Born to John and Cleda Booz Eby, she was raised in Norwood, PA, and was a resident of Upper Chichester for the past 41 years. After she graduated from Glen-Nor High School in 1948, she went on to serve in the US Navy WAVES (Women Accepted forVolunteer Emergency Service) during the Korean War. After raising her family, she was employed by AIG for 20 years retiring in the year 2000. Dot was devoted to her family and country. She was a member of the American Legion, Post 951 in Ogden and also the Upper Chichester Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed staying active, whether it was playing Bingo every Friday night, traveling the country, having lunch and dinners out with friends and family, gardening or going to the beach. In addition to her parents, Dot is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Gieder who died in the early 1980's, and her son, Frederick John Gieder. She is survived by her daughter, Sandi Miller and her husband Gary, nephews and nieces, Gene, Sharon, Donald (Caren), Gary, Lisa (Hank) and Jim. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 13th, from 10-11AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA followed by a Memorial service at 11AM. Interment will be held at Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy's memory may be made to either the Chichester Wesleyan Church, the Boothwyn Fire Company, or the American Legion Post 951 in Ogden.
