Obituary of Janet A. Hackman

Janet Hackman, 67, of Wilmington Delaware died peacefully on January 18. Her loving husband, Gary, to whom she had been married for over 43 years, was with her holding her hand and telling her how much she was loved. She was the youngest of 6 children, and although she had no children of her own, she was a favorite aunt to her many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews whom she thought of as her children. She had a quick wit, and always had a story to tell. She was fortunate to travel to many places over the years: Germany, Morocco, Spain, and several other countries. For many years she went on trips and cruises with her husband Gary and his grandmother. Janet graduated from Notre Dame High School in Moylan, PA, and several years later she went on to work for her father as a Purchasing Agent for H. G. Heintz in Chester, PA. After many years, she decided it was time to stay home. It was during that time that she became interested in antiques. Janet was a collector of many unique pieces over the years, and she proudly displayed them throughout her home. She was a great cook and had many of her mother's recipes. She was always a welcome guest at any family gathering because she often brought the traditional Ukrainian treats. She is also survived by her sisters Delores Heintz, Theresa Heintz, and her brother Henry Heintz (Sue), her brother-in-law John Carroll as well as many nieces and nephews. Additionally, Janet is survived by her sisters in law, Karen DiFatta, (Sal), Hannah Draper, Kathy Overkamp, and a dear friend and neighbor Frank Ferguson. She is predeceased by her parents Henry and Mary Heintz and her sisters, Pauline Heintz and Susan Carroll. Friends and family are invited to her Funeral Service on Thursday, January 25th, at 10:00 AM. Friends may call on Thursday from 9 - 10 AM at the Pagano Funeral Home 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley PA. Interment to follow at Lawn Croft Cemetery. Donations in Janet's memory may be made to American Diabetes Association (https://diabetes.org).
