Obituary of Frances Blackwell Farmer

Frances Blackwell Farmer, age 103, of Glen Mills, PA passed away peacefully on December 13, 2023 at Maris Grove Evergreen Pointe. The seventh of eight children born to Lon and Alice (Hill) Blackwell in Maysville, GA, she resided for the past 9 years in Glen Mills, PA; previously residing in Atlanta, GA for 60 years, living in the Farmer’s first home purchased in 1954. Frances graduated from Georgia Teachers College (Georgia Southern University). Frances was a life-long educator, first in elementary education and later, specializing in preschool education at St. Martins Episcopal School for many years. Devoted to her faith, Frances was a very active member of Clairmont Baptist Church.  She was an independent and strong woman with a zest for life.  She enjoyed countless happy times with her many friends.   Most of all Frances loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and siblings, Frances is preceded in death by her husband Hiram Richard Farmer who passed away in 1966. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Robertson (Ronald); grandchildren, Catherine Castleberry Nickson (Steven), David Robertson (Lisa), and Douglas Robertson (Jacquiline); and 11 great-grandchildren…with three additional by marriage for a total of 14! A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 10:30-11:00 am at the Maris Grove Chapel, Glen Mills, PA followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.
