Obituary of Susan P. Dougherty

Susan "Sue" Dougherty, age 74, of Newark, DE passed away on December 10, 2023 at Ludlowe Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Fairfield, CT. Born to George and Marguerite Blake Patterson in Wilmington, DE, she has resided in Newark, DE for 45 years and most recently with her son in Trumbull, CT. Sue graduated from Mount Pleasant High School, Class of 1967 and worked as an administrator for Dupont for 20 years, then Accenture and Generations Home Care before retiring in 2015. In her earlier years, she participated in the Girl Scouts and later became a member of Beta Sigma Phi. Sue was a crafter and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and cross stitching. She loved baking cookies for friends and family around the holidays. She took pleasure in tending to the flowers in her yard and enjoyed the company of her dog, "Sandie."

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Michael Ashby, and siblings Gail Bickling, and Bonnie Metheny. Sue is survived by her son, Jay Ashby, grandchildren Austin and Mara Ashby, and sister, Wendy (John) Haedo. A visitation will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 10-11AM at Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd, Garnet Valley, PA followed by a funeral service at 11AM. Interment, Lawn Croft Cemetery.
